Somerset Park, Ayr United – Review.

Ayr United 0-1 Kilmarnock, Scottish Championship. 26th October 2021.

Stadium Location – ⭐⭐

In the middle of a residential area, there's nothing much going on in the immediate vicinity. The nearest train station is a 20 minute walk away, and the bus route on the main road is two minutes away.

Parking – ⭐⭐⭐

A car park across the main road and a few minutes walk away, makes for easy access - but best arriving early as it can fill quickly. On street parking is available, but not in the immediate area, making for a 10-15 minute walk.

Seat View – ⭐⭐

Unallocated ticket in the main stand. With the seats being raised above pitch level, as well as a low roof, it could be difficult to see the opposite side of the pitch. An old structure supported by beams, also impeded the view.

Atmosphere – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Ayrshire Derby is a fixture often overlooked by more glamorous Derbies in Scotland, i.e., Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee. Both stands behind the goals were packed in the three-quarter terraced ground, and making a lot of noise. Proper old school venue and atmosphere.
